  1. Well, I´m from Galicia, so as that´s part of Spain if something important or bad happened it would be splashed all over the national papers or on the news. However, I do find a lot of information on concerts, local festivities, sport events...on Facebook and Tuenti.
I do read the on-line edition of the local paper a lot, it´s nice to keep up with what´s going on.
Nevertheless, I find my friends and family are the most reliable source of information I have.

  4. I´m from Honduras but my family lives now in Panamá. I stay in touch with them and my friends all around the world (at whatever the time) thanks to my BBmessenger, but also for a more close-feeling Skype rocks! With that, all of my family memebers, from my 11 year old brother to my 70 year old grandma in France have Facebook, so they keep up with whatever I´m doing. And, last but not least, I like to write long long emails... to people that answer the same!

  5. The way I found about the events that happen in my city is through text message on my mobile phone that the city council sends to me. I also know the concerts thanks to Tuenti and Facebook and also thanks to the magazines that I read.

  7. Im from Zaragoza, a city thats only 2 hours from Pamplona,to get in touch with my family I normally use my mobile phone because although my mother is very modern and has Tuenti and Facebook, my father doesnt, and I prefer to hear their voices. Sometimes we also use Skype. With the rest of my family I use Messenger, Tuenti and the classic Hotmail.

  8. I'm Isa and I'm from the Philippines.
I use variety of media to get in touch with my family, friends and news back home.

For my family (Dad, sisters and brother, uncles, aunts, cousins and grandfather) - Skype, Facebook, iChat, Yahoo Messenger (for my siblings) Twitter (for my Dad) (Mac)

For my best friend/s, classmates - Skype, Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Twitter (it's the most popular instant messaging system in the Philippines)

For news - Online versions of the popular newspapers, Twitter updates from CNN and other online newspapers.

My mother is the most untechnologically advanced member of my family, so she talks to me only through email. I also use email for communication with my home university.

  9. I contact friends and family in Taiwan through email, instant messaging software such as Messenger and Skype. In addition, social networking websites such as Facebook, and twitter are used.
Online news websites such as Times.com and Yahoo News are sources for me to know what's going on both to my country and the whole world.

  10. I'm from Merimasku, Finland and all my family lives up there. To keep in touch with my home country I use both traditional and the new media. I chat with my friends daily using different social networks, mainly Facebook and I call my family using Skype several times a week. I also read daily online the biggest national newspaper of Finland to maintain a general vision on what's going on in my country. I must be a bit old-fashioned, but I love to send and receive traditional letters. I send every month letters and post cards to my closest friends and relatives + the monthly "survival kit" to my family.

  11. I'm from Boston, MA, USA and to keep in touch with my close friends and family, Skype is incredibly useful and convenient. For those not-so-close friends, a simple Wall post on their Facebook pages suffices every once in a while. Of course, e-mail is another option I turn to when I'm unable to communciate in real-time, and would prefer something more personal and more detailed than a Wall post. In terms of staying in tune with what is going on locally and nationally, I occasionally check NYtimes.com or other news websites.

  12. I'm from Colombia, and currently im using Skype or msn, depending on the connection. But usually Skype works better and it's easier to use for all the family and as we all have cam in our laptops we can connect from anyplace, my sister from house, my parents from their office, etc. For news i read national news papers either from Spain or my home country.

  13. I usually read the section "activities and events" that we can find in local newspapers. If not, my family and friends often inform me about some conferences or events when they consider that it´s something interesting for me. Besides, nowadays, we can be well-informed through social networks such as Tuenti or Facebook.

Although I don´t have this tool, I know that some friends receive text messages on their mobile phone from the council. It could saound useful but the information given is not selected and it might be a little bit annoying.
